What we collect

This site has no accounts, no contact form and no comment section. We never ask you to enter your name or email address.

A few things are recorded, though.

  • Server logs: The company that hosts this site (XServer Inc., Japan) keeps access logs (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, date and time) for security and to keep the site running. These logs are kept only for a limited period, under the hosting company’s rules.
  • Analytics: We use Google Analytics to see how much each page is read (see “Cookies and analytics” below).
  • Emails you send us: If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses these cookies:

  • A cookie that remembers your language (name: `pll_language`, kept for one year)
  • Google Analytics cookies (names starting with `_ga`, kept for up to two years): to see how much each page is read, which countries readers come from, and which searches bring them here.

About Google Analytics:

  • It doesn’t collect your name or email address. Google Analytics doesn’t log or store IP addresses.
  • The information is processed by Google. For details, see Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • On this site, the data is kept for two months.
  • If you’re reading from the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK or Switzerland, we don’t use Google Analytics cookies. Only limited measurement without cookies takes place.

We don’t use any advertising cookies at the moment.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. You can still read every article if you do. If you only want to turn off Google Analytics, you can also use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Affiliate links and commissions

Some pages on this site may include links to booking sites, such as rental car or hotel booking services. If you book through one of those links, this site may receive a commission from the booking site. You don’t pay anything extra.

  • Whether or not we earn a commission doesn’t change what we write. Our articles are based on official information from public agencies and from the companies themselves.
  • Booking sites may use their own cookies to see which link you came from. Those cookies are covered by each booking site’s own privacy policy.
  • Some pages (at the moment, only the home page) include a script from our affiliate partner Travelpayouts. This script may use cookies to record referrals. Those cookies are covered by Travelpayouts’ Privacy Policy.

Links to other sites

Our articles link to official websites of public agencies and companies. How those sites handle your information is covered by their own policies.

Sharing information

We don’t sell or give the information you send us to any other person or company, except when the law requires it.

Your information

If you have emailed us and want to see, correct or delete the information you sent, please email us at the address above.

Changes to this page

We will update this page when needed. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above.

This page is published in English, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Thai and Indonesian. If the versions read differently, the English version takes priority.
